ADA Accessibility & Accommodation Policy (Office and Website)

The Law Office of Matthew J. Williams ("the Firm") is committed to providing equal access to legal services and effective communication with clients and prospective clients, consistent with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and other applicable civil rights laws.

1. Scope of This Policy
This policy describes:

Accessibility of in-person consultations at the firm’s office; and

Accessibility of the firm’s website and digital communications.
This policy is intended to facilitate access and to explain how to request reasonable accommodations.

2. Office Accessibility and Alternative Consultation Options
The firm’s office is located in an older building and access to the office may be difficult for some individuals, including due to exterior walking surfaces and stairs.

If a client or prospective client cannot access the office, the firm will make reasonable efforts to offer an alternative method for consultation, including:

Meeting at an alternative location that is mutually agreeable and accessible (e.g., a public meeting space, conference room, or other accessible location); and/or
-
Remote consultation by secure video conference or telephone.
Where appropriate, the firm may also provide documents and communications electronically (email, secure portal, or other agreed method) to support remote representation.

3. Requests for Reasonable Accommodations
Accommodation requests are welcomed and should be made as early as practicable to allow time for coordination.
Examples of accommodations that may be available, depending on the circumstances, include:

Scheduling consultations by video or phone

Providing written materials in alternative formats upon request (when feasible)

Allowing additional time for meetings or communications

Use of relay services for phone communications
The firm will evaluate each request on a case-by-case basis and will respond in a timely manner.
4. Effective Communication and Auxiliary Aids/Services
The firm aims to ensure effective communication with individuals with disabilities. Where appropriate and upon request, the firm will consider providing auxiliary aids and services, consistent with applicable law, which may include qualified interpreters or other communication aids.

The firm is committed to making its website accessible to the broadest possible audience. The firm seeks to maintain substantial conformance with generally recognized accessibility principles and, where practicable, aims to align with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA.
If any website content is not accessible, the firm will make reasonable efforts to provide the information through an alternative method upon request.

Remote meetings may be conducted through third-party video or document-sharing platforms. Accessibility features and availability may vary by provider. If a platform presents an accessibility barrier, the firm will work with the client to identify a reasonable alternative.
